Nazareth: Peace in Trouble | Titus O'Bryant
• Titus O'Bryant • Series: O Little Town
Our character and perspective is shaped by the people we’ve interacted with and the places we have lived far more than we often realize. It’s surprising to remember how this is also true for Jesus. God chose some surprising and unassuming places to shape the life of his Son. This weekend, we consider the significance of Jesus’ hometown and the meaning behind the title we often use: Jesus of Nazareth. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: 1) What is your hometown or where are you from and what significance does that place hold for you? 2) What insights can you gain about Jesus’ hometown of Nazareth and the significance of that place in his life from these passages: John 1:44-46 Matthew 13:53-55 Luke 4:14-30 3) What did you hear this weekend that inspired you, challenged you, or sparked disagreement or further consideration? 4) From your own life experience, test the idea that the hidden parts of your life may be the most significant and important parts of life. Are there parts of your past or current experience that prove or challenge this notion? Where might God be leading you in the hidden parts of your life right now? 5) What difference does it make for you to realize Jesus’ deep understanding of the human experience and of your life? 6) What are some ways you could discover or reasons to remember that you can experience peace in troubling times?
