Meet Resistance with Persistence | Joe Paschal
• Joe Paschal • Series: Mark's Gospel: The Way to Follow Jesus
Following Jesus will lead us into situations that will test our faith. Jesus told us to expect troubles in this world. But trials still catch us by surprise. They can leave us confused. Thankfully, we can trust God in the difficult times because we know they are opportunities for our perseverance, our character, and our hope to grow stronger-if we persist. And in the end, unimaginable glory awaits us! DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: 1. What do you think of when you hear the phrase “resistance to following Jesus”? How do you think of resistance? What are possible responses to it? 2. How have you experienced resistance as you follow Jesus? Was it surprising or confusing? How did you respond to it? Did you think about verses like John 16:33 as you were going through it? 3. If you’re willing, could you share some personal experiences where facing resistance has contributed to your spiritual growth and strengthened your faith? 4. Are you currently facing a challenge to following Jesus? What can you do to persevere through it? How do you see the truth in Romans 5:3-4 in your situation?
