Jesus Valued All People

 • Titus O'Bryant • Series: Leading from the High Road

Salt makes things better and light makes things brighter. Unfortunately, everyone steps into dark moments and distasteful experiences invade our life. By following Jesus’ example, we can become the salt and light that changes our world and influences other people to find hope and wholeness in Jesus. This weekend, we jump into the summer to apply the values of Jesus’ leadership to our lives. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. Read Jesus’ question and answer concluding with his story about the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37. a. What motivated Jesus to tell this story and include specific details about the people involved? b. What message do you hear from this story? 2. Read about Jesus’ interaction with a woman at a well in John 4:1-30. a. What do you imagine about this woman’s life experience? b. How do you think she might have felt as she talked with Jesus? c. Consider the boundaries that Jesus crossed to meet this woman. What might it look like for you to cross boundaries to interact with others the way Jesus did? 3. Recall how Jesus pursued relationships with a variety of people including disciples who were radical revolutionaries, cultured aristocrats, small business owners, laborers, and even one scoundrel. How have important relationships changed you? How could you pursue authentic relationships with someone to share Jesus’ love? 4. Make a list (mentally or on paper) of people you dislike and people far from or who oppose God. Now read John 3:16. Consider how those individuals or groups on your list are included in God’s love for all people in the world. How have you changed because God and someone else has loved you? What might change if you intentionally reached out to love someone from your lists? 5. Consider how you could sincerely love someone else and explore how you can be part of loving our community like Jesus this summer through LifePoint Loves (see link in this episode)
