Discernment for Reaching Out | Joe Paschal

â€¢ Joe Paschal â€¢ Series: The Art of Discernment

How can we as Christians in the United States help people in need around the world? It's easy for us to make a list of all the ways we can go to third world countries and solve many of their problems. But are we asking them what they actually need from us? There's no lack of scripture exhorting believers to be generous to the poor and help those in need. But how do we really help? What does the Church in America have to offer? What do we hear when we ask others what they need and we truly listen? DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. What resonated with you from the service? Did anything in the service feel convicting? If so, what? 2. What would it look like in your context to "listen" to those in need before reaching out with preconceived "solutions?" 3. What do you think are the rewards mentioned in Proverbs 19:17? 4. How are the instructions in Proverbs 31:8-9 different from giving money to the poor? 5. How can you individually and as a group respond to people in need in our community and around the world?
