• Titus O'Bryant • Series: The Art of Discernment
Whether or not we’ve considered it carefully, we all have a connection with money that is far deeper and more important than receiving a regular paycheck or carefully balancing our accounts. Money can cause us significant pain and conflict. Money can also help us reach goals and enjoy life. More than likely, you have some complicated thoughts and feelings around money. That’s why we’re looking for discernment from Proverbs to create a healthy perspective on money. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. What are your views on money and wealth—positive, negative, neutral, or mixed? What characteristics do these passages encourage in our relationship with money… a. Proverbs 24:30-34 b. Proverbs 13:11 c. Proverbs 22:3-7 d. Proverbs 21:20 e. Proverbs 3:9-10 4. Which characteristic (s) from above would you like to build into your character? How could you take a step toward being that type of person? 5. How have you experienced both the blessing and the curse of money? 6. The only prayer in Proverbs connects to our integrity and attitudes and actions around money and resources. How might your life change if you make this part of your prayers this week? First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” And if I am poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name. Proverbs 30:8-9 NLT
