Our Father's Kingdom | Titus O'Bryant
• Titus O'Bryant • Series: The Lord's Prayer
How have you experienced the gap between already and not yet? Already and not yet is that time when you’ve already finished your classes but you haven’t yet had your graduation or you’re already old enough to drive but don’t yet have your license. These are the moments when one reality is already true but you are not yet enjoying the full experience of that reality. How does this idea of already-not yet relate to the truth that Jesus is already the king and how can we be a sign that points toward Jesus’ coming kingdom. That’s what we’re exploring together this weekend at LifePoint. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. When Jesus’ disciples prayed, “your kingdom come,” what do you think they were imagining about the coming kingdom? What do you think of when you pray for or consider God’s coming kingdom? 2. How have you experienced signs of the coming kingdom of Jesus breaking into your life and how have you also experienced the absence of his kingdom? 3. What did you hear this weekend that you found encouraging, challenging or that sparked disagreement or further consideration? 4. As he entered Jerusalem just before his crucifixion, Jesus told a story in Luke 19:11-27, correcting the impression that the Kingdom of God would come right away. Read and consider that story. What message do you think Jesus wants us to understand? What are some things, qualities, or resources that Jesus has entrusted to you? What could you do to grow in your faithfulness with these gifts? 5. If you woke up tomorrow entirely inside of God’s kingdom, what would be different? 6. How could you take a step toward realizing the reality and values of God’s future kingdom in your life right now?
